Bovine Mastitis Market Overview

Bovine Mastitis in cattle is defined as a protracted and inflammatory reaction of the udder tissue induced by either physical trauma or microorganism-related diseases. It's a potentially fatal mammary gland infection that's most common in dairy cows across the world. It's a problem that's been known to wreak havoc on the dairy industry's profit margins. A variety of different microorganisms can cause mastitis. They include viruses, mycoplasmas, fungi, and bacteria. Mastitis causes a red, firm lump to form in the udder. The swollen mammary gland is highly hot, and animals experience pain and discomfort even when they touch it. Animals will not touch or kick the udder to avoid being milked. This illness is characterized by blood clots, foul-smelling brown discharge, and milk clots.

The frequency of bovine mastitis is increasing year after year as the number of dairy cows grows. According to Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine, the global incidence of clinical mastitis is estimated to be between 0 and 190 incidents per 95 cows per year. Various geographical studies have estimated the yearly incidence of clinical mastitis to be between 20 and 25 occurrences per 90 cows. This increased incidence is costing the dairy sector a lot of money in terms of poorer milk output, worse milk quality, and expensive treatment costs for bovine mastitis.
